Default Time Study

Ajmal,
There are many work measurement techniques out there. Judging by your post, I'll just assume that you are using a stopwatch to measure the work. Typically, we don't use statistics on this type of study. Just make sure you choose an appropriate sample size and use the mean value to determine the standard time. If your process has a lot of variation, you will want a larger sample size. If you want to get technical, after you have collected the data you can plug the numbers into the standard sample size formula and see how this value compares to your sample size.

Remember to use Methods Analysis and process improvement techniques once you have finished your time study. We have to always see the world through our Industrial Engineering glasses.

Dennis,
If you have some specific interest in a particular method feel free to post it here. Also, you can send a message to myself or the sales team and we can make arrangements for a call that will address your business needs.
