Default Master Production Scheduling (MPS)

Can anybody tell me what the basic concept of Master Production Scheduling (MPS) is?

The basic concept of MPS is to specify exact amounts and delivery timings for each end product by considering Bill-of-Material (BOM) and capacity. For example, to build a Teddy Bear doll, you might need to schedule like this:

Monday: Buy all materials (plush, fabric, needle, etc.)

Tuesday: Make left and right arms

Wednesday: Make left and right legs

Thursday (Morning): Make body and head.

Thursday (Afternoon): Put all components together. Make eyes, nose, and mouth

Friday: Make the cloth and personalized name

I hope you find that example helpful. I'm curious to learn about the industry you work in, and the context in which the subject of MPS arose.
