Proxy based estimation

I am a student of Software project management.
In few days time i have to give presentation on the topic of "Proxy based estimation".
I searched this topic on internet but didnt find any good material.Watever info i got abt Proxy based estimation confused me more.
Plz anyone can tell me resource from where i can get easy to undertand material on this topic.Any help will do great for me.

I have recently returned from Iceland (I was there the last week of August); this topic is a research topic of interest there. You might begin with the web site http://www3.hi.is/~oddur/spisland/proxy/proxy.pdf (a PowerPoint summary) and possibly write an email to the presenter (whom I do not know). In your literature searches, try the keyword PROBE (PROxy Based Estimation). Interestingly, as you likely know, Wikipedia has just a little stub on this topic.
