I am working on an inventory model that requires me define a 1D array, the size of which depends on another variable. I have two questions:
1. How do I define such a 1D array variable? 2. How do I view the values stored in the array variable. For eg. If my array variable is of size 50, how do I import the values to excel using Statistic? Really looking forward for some help! Divya |

In the Basic template, use Variable. Define the variable you want, specifying the number of rows you want (for 1-dimensional, leave the number of columns blank). To IMport values into this Variable from Excel or to EXport values from this Variable to Excel, you must use the ReadWrite block and the File module in the Advanced Process template.

Thanks William. I am now able to read the values, however my logic seems to be wrong. Let me explain my problem.
I have a variable that takes on consecutive values within a range. For eg. X=1,2,3,4...Y, where Y=50. I now need to calculate the percentage time that the value of X is 1,2,3...Y. My approach was to use an array variable of size Y and compute the interval between two arrivals and store it in the array. But this is not giving me any results. Is there a better way to do it? Your reply was located here: http://forums.pmcorp.com/simulation-analysis/918-defining-array-size-recording-1d-array-values.html I have moved it to this thread. Have a great day! Thanks William,
somehow my reply seems to have vanished. I am now able to read the values of the variable. However there seems to be a logic error. I have a variable that takes on consecutive values in a particular range. X=1,2,3...Y, where Y=50 (for eg.) I now need to calculate the percentage time that the Value of X=1,2,...Y. In order to do that I defined a 1D to store the time inbetween value changes of X. However this does not seem to work as the array size in the exported file is equal to the number of entities that passed through X. How do I calculate the percentage time? Really appreciate any leads. Divya |

Could you please clarify a bit more on your solution, I'm new to Arena. I'm running into the same problem. I am simulating the operation of a railway network. In my model, I have a variable NumberOfStations and some arrays whose sizes depend on this variable. Each time I update the NumberOfStations I have to go over all the arrays to update which are really painful and error-prone. |
